Luca Orini, Executive Chef at Grand Hotel Timeo, worked at many other Orient-Express Hotels before bringing his considerable talents to Taormina. He first came to the company in 1993, when he joined Villa San Michele in Florence, a place he describes as a ‘life-long love’ and to which he returned as Sous Chef some years later. He was also part of the launch team of Hotel Splendido Mare in Portofino.
Originally from Varese, in the Lombardia region, Luca’s culinary career has taken him all over the world: countries where he has worked include Switzerland, the UK, Germany and the USA.
Luca is relishing his new challenge in Taormina. He adores Sicilian cuisine for the richness and variety of its traditional dishes and finds great pleasure in bringing the island’s special flavours into his kitchen. He especially enjoys preparing pasta filled with different types of fresh fish, vegetables and herbs.
